Ultrasound

We offer two types of ultrasounds for dogs and cats. Each includes a detailed report with interpretation by a board-certified veterinary specialist.

Why is it beneficial to schedule regular ultrasounds for your pet?

  • Detect problems early – Many conditions, such as tumors, organ changes, or bladder stones, may not cause obvious symptoms at first. Ultrasound can reveal them before they become serious.

  • Monitor ongoing health – For pets with chronic conditions (like kidney, liver, or heart disease), ultrasounds provide valuable updates on how the disease is progressing and whether treatments are working.

  • Provide peace of mind – Even when your pet seems healthy, routine ultrasounds can confirm that everything looks normal, giving you confidence in their well-being.

  • Guide treatment decisions – If changes are found, your veterinarian can recommend timely treatments or further testing to help your pet live a longer, healthier life.

When should pets have an abdominal ultrasound?

Ultrasounds aren’t just for sick pets—they’re also a powerful preventive tool. Senior pets especially benefit from regular screenings, as they can reveal hidden issues like organ changes, tumors, or stones before symptoms appear. An abdominal ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive way to catch problems early and give you peace of mind about your pet’s health. Your veterinarian may have also recommended that you pet have a diagnostic ultrasound for other reasons.

Common reasons include:

  • Unexplained symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, or changes in appetite or drinking habits

  • Abnormal lab results that suggest changes in the liver, kidneys, pancreas, or other organs

  • Detection of lumps or masses during a physical exam or on X-rays

  • Monitoring chronic conditions like liver disease, kidney disease, or cancer

  • Pre-surgical or pre-treatment evaluations to better understand your pet’s health before anesthesia or therapy
